Pembridge Midshipman ("Shippy") was selectively bred from the April Love dam line, by the influential
sire Midshipman, to produce a modern, athletic type of Cleveland Bay that is competitive against the
modern sports horse. He has loose movement and an athletic jump.
His first foal was exported to the USA, but his subsequent stock have been retained in the United
Kingdom until they are of competition age. Shippy has been brough on slowly under saddle to give him
time to mature.
Shippy is an ideal sire for the lighter competition mare to give them bone and substance without making
them too heavy. He has been bred to be an ideal prospective sire of Eventers and Jumpers, especially
when put to Thoroughbred mares.
