Magic Darco
1994, 16.2 hh bay Belgian Warmblood
In the 2008 season, he was Circuit Champion of the Jacksonville Winter Series, Reserve Circuit Champion
at HITS (Ocala), Circuit Champion and Grand Hunter Champion at Aiken, and finished as Zone 4 Horse of
the Year in the Regular Working Hunters. Magic wins both jumping and on the flat, always brings prize
money home, and regularly wins enough to cover his show costs and more.

A careful, intelligent, regal looking animal with amazing power and scope, and also with nice movement, he is
easily ridden by professional and amateur riders, with a reputation for taking care of his riders. He clearly
stamps his foals with his size, bone, intelligence and temperament, with his first US foals being nearly carbon
copies of him, out of a variety of mares.

Magic's pedigree is a superb example of specialist show jumping breeding using prepotent stallion lines. It is
also unique in that he is the only graded son of Darco to be out of a Ramiro mare, along with the valuable
presence of the fantastic Dutch stallion Joost on the bottom dam line.

Magic's sire, the Belgian Warmblood stallion DARCO, is the sire of over 19 graded stallions and 35
international showjumpers, and was also a top international showjumper in his own right, scoring Grand Prix
wins and successful appearances in the World Cup and the European Championships with Ludo Philipaerts
in the early 1990s. His BLUP index for showjumping is a very high 158.6, and his best known offspring are
the top international showjumpers Hildon King Darco, RBJ Ottercongo, Neron de la Tourelle, Jolly Boy,
Nathan 80 and Sampo Kunwald, with the last two of these also being closely related to Magic Darco through
his dam’s dam Codex.

Magic's damsire, Ramiro Z, was one of the two foundation sires of the famous Zangersheide stud and has
such has been responsible for no less than 107 graded stallion sons (57 of them graded in Germany) and
49 international showjumpers. His best-known offspring are probably the fabulous showjumping mare Ratina
Z, and the showjumping stallion full brother groups Robin I Z and Robin II Z, Royal Z I and Royal Z II, and
Rebel Z I, Rebel Z II and Rebel Z III, all of whom helped him to a record BLUP index of 171 in 1995. Many of
his other sons, such as Raphael, Rasso and Ronald are also sires of international showjumpers in their own
right and other stallions from this line include Dramiro and Maximillian Saluut (both well-known in the UK).
Ramiro also has four international dressage horses to his name, including Lectron and the USA-based
stallion Rampal and his many stallion sons such as Report II, Rex Fritz and Ribot have also sired a number
of top dressage horses too.
